The Adventure Continues…
Noise Under The Bed
“There’s no place like home.” -Everyone
Some time close to four o’clock this morning, I woke up to the sound of scratching. I couldn’t figure out what the noise was or where it was coming from in my sleepy haze. And, then, I realized I didn’t feel Willie James next to me. Doing the bed pat down, he was nowhere to be found!
Why do I share this odd and private moment, because for the first time in a year I have a bed that I can walk around on three sides. Thank goodness I tucked the top sheet in under the end of the bed or poor Willie James would have hit the floor.
I have no idea how long he was under the foot of the bed dangling in the sheet hammock. All I know is when I retrieved him he was exceptionally grateful and licked my face for five minutes!
Right how he’s curled up in a ball on the sofa and asleep. Poor Toots (one of my nicknames for him). It feels good to state that I have a sofa – and – a dining room table – and – an OVEN!
If you haven’t figured it out, I closed on a new home on wheels yesterday. It took me a lot longer to empty the 17′ by 7.5′ box I had resided for a year than I anticipated! Load after load, I thought, I need to purge stuff again! Wow am I efficient at packing stuff away.
My new home is a Jayco Flight 212QB with a huge picture window above the back bumper. I am watching the sun rise as I write this post and sip my Green Goddess juice at the table.
If you decide to go mobile like I have, or wish to purchase a travel trailer for weekend adventures, I have a few niblets of wisdom to share.
First, not all salespeople are slimy, sacks of pooh conning you to buy, buy BUY.
Well, that’s the thought kept telling myself as I wandered from RV dealership to RV dealership over the past couple of months. It took a bit to locate the gentleman I would finally meet in Texas that took the time to help me find my new home and treat me like a serious buyer (remember the salesman I mentioned in Times Are Changing?).
Research.
I cannot stress this enough. Do your research. Talk to individuals that have campers similar to what you are interested in purchasing. Ask about the pro’s and con’s about theirs, and what they look for when buying.
Go online and read the reviews from multiple sources. A word to the wise, you will find people who rated a particular make and model a 1-star because they didn’t like something that has nothing to so with the structure, functionality, mobility, plumbing or electrical system. Be a troll and scroll!
Talk to a variety of salespeople in various locations. Each one will share with you information that the previous individuals did not provide.
Most importantly, if the salesperson doesn’t treat you the way you’d like, there’s always another dealership to visit.
Well, time to cut this post short. We need to get ready to hit the highway…again.
Willie James and I wish you the happiest of Thanksgivings. May it be a joy-filled, memorable holiday.

Congrats on what sounds like a wonderful and luxurious home! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and know that I am forever thankful that you are in my life (give your pup a hug from Aunt Barb while you’re at it)!
Melt this gal’s heart! Thank you, Barb. I, too, am forever grateful for our friendship. Willie James loved his hug from Auntie Barb. It is nice to be able to stretch out and live in a travel trailer that feels like a home. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
CONGRATS!!! My friend! Enjoy and safe travels!!
Thank you, Ruthie! We are truly enjoying our new home.
Wonderful!!! Congratulations on your new home!!!
Thank you, Kathleen.
Congratulations — sounds like you’ve found just the right home for you and the little guy! Oddly enough, I was browsing RVs online again. I’ve got the bug. I know it’s going to happen — I just don’t know how or when. But, with all the wonderfulness in my life, I rarely do, right? Thanks for sharing.
Right. The right RV will present itself at the right time when you’re ready for it. Enjoy the process of finding the “perfect one”. That shopping bug is curious character! Thanks, Andrea!
